This year marked the 14th year that Mark coached wrestling at Campbell H.S. - he began as a volunteer, then became an assistant coach, head girl's coach, and eventually became the head boy's coach. He decided at the beginning of this season that it would be his last, so he gave it his all and was successful. He had three state champs, the boys' team and girls' team won the Oahu Interscholastic Association championship (public schools on Oahu) and the girls' team came in 3rd in the state and the boys varsity team took 4th in the state.

These two guys give this team 100% devotion and the success the team has been all because of them!

The principal at Campbell H.S., Naomi Takamori. She was Mark's principal at Ilima Intermediate back in 2000 when we moved here and was the person who picked us up at the airport when we arrived as 22 year olds who knew nothing of Hawaii. She has been a huge supporter of the wrestling program through the years.

A few weeks ago, they had the Campbell H.S. athletic banquet and Brian planned a big farewell for Mark. He invited all the alumni back and many people from the wrestling community. It was a great way for everyone to come and share their appreciation for Mark's dedication to the wrestling team.

While I'm glad that we will have Mark's time back during the upcoming wrestling season, I am so proud of how committed he has been to this program. He gave it his all and they have been so successful because of Mark and Brian. It was really touching to see everyone come out (alumni, current wrestlers, friends, and school staff) to show their support and appreciation of the 14 years Mark gave to Campbell H.S. wrestling. This was all organized by Brian, who is such a thoughtful friend. It all made me realize how blessed we are to be surrounded by such caring people. Now, on to coaching soccer teams, T-ball, and youth wrestling clubs for our boys :)
