Without family here, we have to plan out date nights (or days) very carefully! We decided to take a day off at the end of the school year when Gavin would be in school and Dylan would be in childcare to go kayaking. The Weidas even picked up the boys from school so we really felt like we were on vacation for a day! We did all things that are "difficult" to do with kids....kayaked nearly 5 miles in Kanehoe Bay to discover a new island, went to Waimea Bay, and dinner at Haleiwa Joe's. It was such a great day!

We launched the kayak from the beach near Heiea Harbor. There were no winds so the bay was like a lake! We planned on going out to the sandbar, but when we got there, we decided to continue out to the little island seen way off in the distance.

Having shoes with us would have been nice, but we were able to make our way around the island to explore.

Attempting a pull-up...unsuccessfully

After kayaking we went to Waimea bay to watch the surf. I absolutely love this beach, but parking is hard to find and the walk is usually long over the huge beach so we never go with the kids....This made it a perfect place to go on our "vacation"

Sunset over Haleiwa Harbor during dinner.

Meanwhile back at the Weida's house, the boys were having a blast playing in the water. We were so appreciative of Brian and Monica picking up the boys for us!!!
